CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A fourth person is now dead as Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are still looking for information about a shooting in north Charlotte late Sunday night.
Dairyon Stevenson, 31, died from a gunshot wound Wednesday while in the hospital, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. Investigators say they’ve collected 181 rounds from handguns and assault rifles from the scene. They also say those rounds are connected to other crimes around the city.
The incident happened on Beatties Ford Road, where nine people were shot and five people were hit by vehicles during the impromptu Juneteenth block party. Three people died from gunshot wounds and one was fatally hit by a car. It’s believed that nearly 400 people gathered in the north Charlotte neighborhood for the party which extended into the early-morning hours Monday.
The department says the investigation is still in progress. Some witnesses have come forward, but investigators say there are more people out there who know more about what happened that night.
There is a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call 704-432-TIPS and speak to a homicide unit detective.
