RALEIGH, N.C. -- A dad is celebrating Father's Day for the first time after becoming a parent during COVID-19.
Jayme and Rafael Tetro welcomed their daughter Shailee to the world on April 24. Fortunately, Jayme and Shailee were healthy and ready to leave the hospital 24 hours later.
But, for the protection of extended family, the Tetros self-isolated.
"We chose to have it just us for two weeks because we had been around so many people, even if they were wearing masks, just to be the safe side. My parents are in their 60's," Jayme said.
For weeks, the only way loved ones could see Shailee was through the glass window of her nursery.
Shailee has since been able to meet plenty of her family. The Tetros said they would be spending Father's Day with dad, granddad, and great-granddad in person while still keeping a safe 6 feet distance when possible.
