WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- A group of local artists came together to craft a message of solidarity on Saturday.
Many murals taking a stand against social injustice have popped up around the state and across the country, and now the Triad has its own.
Sixteen artists gathered Saturday afternoon to paint a mural that reads, "End Racism Now". The art piece is on North Main Street, near City Hall.
Artist Jazmine Moore says, "We're all human, and we should all be able to come together as one."
Each artist was assigned a letter to paint whatever they want. Each letter is filled with color pictures, words of encouragement, and symbols of unity.
Artist April Reich was tapped to paint the letter 'A'.
She explains, "What we have going on in society right now, I just was willing to do it to help out, willing to give a hand."
Mayor Allen Joines shared remarks while artists continued to work on their pieces. Joines says this project is fitting for the city of arts and innovation.
He says, "I think it's a tangible way to remind us of the support of the movement."
You can find the mural at 101 North Main Street in Winston-Salem.
