CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- While many of this weekend's protests were peaceful in Charlotte, there were some cases of violence.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department says around 70 people were arrested.

Charges range from failure to disperse, possession of a dangerous weapon at a demonstration, to resisting a public officer.

Spectrum News went through some of the arrest records over the weekend and found while many people were from Charlotte, there were also people arrested from Gastonia, Asheville, South Carolina, and New York.

"We definitely wanted to make sure the people who are from here, that they had their message out that we don't want to destroy our city, we don't want to destroy our neighborhoods," says Greg Jackson, who is the founder of Heal Charlotte which aims to heal relations between police and the community.

CMPD says eight officers were injured this weekend but will be ok.
