UNION COUNTY, N.C. -- A group of students at Shiloh Valley Elementary School in Union County didn't let COVID-19 stop them from preparing their spring musical.

They were supposed to put on "Willy Wonka Jr." in late March but the pandemic forced schools to close.

Instead, the students and music teacher Rebecca Vickers, have rehearsed on zoom.

They continue to run lines and sing despite the technical glitches.

"Nobody is just going to pick it up and throw it away because of coronavirus, because we are better than coronavirus," says fourth grader Mallory Layman

The music teacher says the show is postponed and not canceled. She says they will perform the show whether it's this summer or fall.
