BOONE, N.C. -- A virtual walk/run took place in Watauga County on Saturday in an attempt to keep Boone healthy.

The event was started by workers at Appalachian Mountain Brewery and Beech Mountain Ski Resort.

Each participant donated to one of 10 nonprofits and was given a number to wear while completing an activity.

Some went hiking, others went biking, and one family even taught yoga virtually.

"It's just something to get people to motivate. A lot of people are at home day to day, so this is something to look forward to, keep on the calendar, come together, and be active," said Appalachian Mountain Brewery's Danny Wilcox.

Prizes were given out for the best pictures posted to the Keep Boone Healthy Facebook page.
