RALEIGH N.C. — The full Governor's COVID-19 Task Force held its first meeting Thursday at the EOC's Situation Room.

"We are all in this together that we will find a way forward for our state," said Gov. Roy Cooper to the room of top brass from different departments of the state government.

Health leaders, educators, law enforcement, and other officials went around the room giving everyone an update on the latest plan to stop the spread of the Coronavirus. The governor says North Carolinians should prepare to make major changes.

"We know that there will be disappointment. We know that there will be loss of income for people. We know that there will be inconvenience," he said.

State Superintendent Mark Johnson says closing schools remains a possibility. However, he'll allow that decision to be made on the local level, knowing it won't be easy.

"There are also parents who this will be a huge disruption for them if schools closed. This would be a disruption for their working ability," Johnson said.
