CHARLOTTE, N.C.—Eric Trump spoke before a crowd of President Donald Trump’s supporters Monday afternoon.

  • He says North Carolina is a key state in the presidential election
  • President Trump plans to hold a rally in Charlotte on March 2
  • Some supporters say they plan to volunteer for the president's campaign

Eric attended a Mecklenburg County Make America Great Again Meet-up at Blackstone Sporting Goods. The event helps campaign leaders connect with other supporters in the area and recruit new volunteers.

He says North Carolina is a key state in the presidential election.

“I think my father resonated really well in the state. I think he relates to a lot of people in the state. Quite frankly, the numbers in the state have been unbelievable under him. The economy in North Carolina is one of the best in the country. You see the boom that is happening here. You see the wealth creation that is happening here,” Eric said.

Trump supporter Dan Phillips didn’t want to miss the event.

“I’m here to show my support for Donald Trump, to Eric, his family and let him know the working man is behind him,” Phillips said.

Phillips, who is happy with the president’s performance, is also encouraged by his efforts to protect the Second Amendment.

“It was a right that was given to us many, many years ago before our time,” Phillips said.

Eric says President Trump believes in protecting Constitutional rights.

“He believes in that, he campaigned on it and I think he has done so very effectively. My father has put 190 judges, he is putting two Supreme Court Judges and there’s probably no better way than protect the Second Amendment than that,” Eric said.

Phillips plans to volunteer for the Trump campaign to help him get re-elected. Eric says the enthusiasm in North Carolina for President Trump is promising.

"I think we are going to do very well in North Carolina in 2020, so I'm very excited,” Eric said.

President Trump plans to hold a rally in Charlotte on March 2.
