CORNELIUS, N.C. -- Senator Thom Tillis cast his primary ballot for the 2020 election Friday morning.
Just hours before Democratic Presidential Candidate Bernie Sanders is set to visit the area, Sen. Tillis and his wife met with supporters at Cornelius Town Hall.
Using the new two-step voting machines, he told us he checked the ballot for both President Donald Trump's reelection, as well as his own. He says they have accomplished a lot in the last term, but they still have more work to finish in Washington.
"The age-old question when you vote is ‘are you better off now than you were four years ago?’ And, there's no question the answer is yes. We need to get President Trump reelected. We need to continue to have the majority in the senate so we can fulfill the promises that we have in my tenure in the senate. With the president's help, we're going to make the great results that we've seen even greater in the next cycle of his term," he said.
