DUPLIN COUNTY, N.C. – A new mother in Duplin County is looking for the public’s help in searching for the owner of a newborn placard.
According to Evelyn Shields-Cowley, she received a placard with a baby’s footprint on it. She says it was mailed to her by accident and has the name “Evelyn” on it. It says the baby was born on December 28, 2019, a few days before her own baby was born also at Duke University Hospital.
She tried to contact the hospital but has not received any answers.
So she took to social media to find to owner.
"So that was a dead end. So I turned to Facebook, maybe, North Carolina is not that big, like somebody has to know somebody who had this baby girl on December 28th,” Shields-Cowley said.
Spectrum News reached out to Duke University Hospital for comment. A spokesperson said HIPAA laws require health care providers to protect patient privacy.
