With the daily number of opioid overdoses climbing, many more families are left to grieve the loss of their loved one. That’s why Hospice of Davidson County started a support group for those who have lost someone to substance abuse.

Hospice of Davidson County Medical Director Lana Janelle Riemann says this is about people coming together to support one another during the grieving process.

"This one specifically gives people a place to talk about things that maybe they feel like they can talk about somewhere else because of feelings of guilt, or shame, or whatever they may be feeling about such a complicated issue. I think this will give them a safe place to process those things," Riemann said.

The Substance Abuse Bereavement Support Group meets every other Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The support group is free but registering online in advance is recommended. You can register here
