NATIONWIDE -- Two of the biggest package delivery companies in the country will be charging you more to ship heavy boxes in 2020.

UPS and FedEx both announced the rate hikes last week. Both companies say they will have a $24 surcharge for packages that weigh more than 50 pounds. The surcharge didn't used to kick in until a package was over 70 pounds.

The UPS fee increase is already in effect, FedEx's fee takes effect on Monday.
