CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Everyone has a way to pamper themselves, whether it's a massage, a nice dinner, or a trip to the nail salon.
- Ashley Randle recently opened a nail salon in a Charlotte mall
- Randle tweeted about her new business, and it went viral
- She tweeted about it to show her passion and to provide guidance for others
One woman living in Charlotte turned her passion into a business, and it's now getting national attention.
Ashley Randle and her brother, Nathan, recently opened Top Coat Nail Bar inside Northlake Mall.
Ashley was so proud of their new business, she sent out a tweet saying in part "So this year for Christmas, I got myself the gift of ownership! Allow me to introduce Charlotte’s newest BLACK OWNED nail bar, Top Coat Nail Bar!" This tweet has more than 110,000 likes, 20,000 retweets, and it's gaining more every day.
Ashley says she didn't send out the tweet to get famous. She says she sent it out to show that she followed her passion, and she hopes to inspire others to do the same.
"Having a black-owned salon is a lot of work, and it is important. Black consumers are a huge part of the pool that support this industry, and the number of black owners is extremely little in comparison to that," she says. "So having something like this is something that's super crucial, and I just am thankful for the fact that it took off like this. I think the platform was unexpected, but it's definitely grateful."
The salon is open mall hours, so seven days a week except for some holidays. You can also call for a reservation Monday-Thursday if you don't want to wait in line.
