LEWISVILLE, N.C. – First responders on duty were treated to a holiday feast to honor their service Wednesday.

  • First responders on duty were treated to a feast in Lewisville
  • The event featured catered food, games, and activities for responders and families
  • Food was also delivered to responders who couldn't attend the event

The event, which featured catered food, games, and activities for all on-duty first responders who serve the Clemmons, Lewisville, and Vienna areas, was held at the Lewisville Fire Department Station.

Ashley McDowell, the wife of a first responder and a member of Leadership Lewisville Clemmons, says the goal was to recognize first responders who are away from families.

“Our very first Christmas being married was me meeting him and sitting in the car giving him a piece of cake saying ‘Merry Christmas!’ So, I just thought I’m not the only one who’s had to do this with this problem. Every first responder family knows the struggle on holidays, but especially Christmas,” McDowell says.

The group also delivered plates of food to other first responders who weren’t able to attend.
