CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Balloon art and decor is taking off in the Queen City.
Tiffany Donovan says she started her small business, known as "Confetti Castle", just a few months ago in September when she moved to Charlotte from Nashville.
"I said, 'what is something that I can do that not anyone else is really doing?'" Donovan said.
Balloon decor was the answer! Donovan wasn't sure how successful it would be so she worked hard to make every display unique.
Before long her idea was a huge hit and she says she was busy every day of the week.
"Seven days a week, no less than 12 hours a day," Donovan said. "Some days I work 15, 16, 17 hours a day."
On Sunday Donovan was working on a "Frozen" themed winter wonderland for a birthday party. The homeowner says last year she put up all the balloons herself and this year it was nice to have professional help.
Donovan says all of her balloons are biodegradable and she doesn’t use helium.
"There is a helium shortage and you need helium for medical devices and things like that so I really try to steer away from helium as much as possible," Donovan said. "We don’t ever release them into the air, it’s not good for the environment. So I try to follow all of those things."
Donovan admits the endless hours and continuous workdays can be tough, but she says it's worth it.
"It gets tiring, but it is really fulfilling because my customers, a lot of times, they become friends," Donovan said.
Confetti Castle charges by the size of the display.
