HIGH POINT, N.C. – It wouldn’t be Christmas in High Point without High Point University’s extraordinary community Christmas celebration.

  • The event has local choirs, hot food, and Christmas decorations
  • Last year, 25,000 people attended
  • The event takes place Thursday, December 12 and Friday, December 13

The ninth annual two-day event kicks off this evening. There will be entertainment from local choirs, hot food, and Christmas decorations.

Last year, 25,000 people attended and HPU expects an even larger turnout this year.

High Point University Minister Rev. Preston Davis says this event is about connecting with the High Point community.

"We're sending students off, they're finishing exams - now we get to welcome the town and they get to experience this amazing place. It also reminds us that this is High Point's University. We're in this together. We have the marching bands here, the community choirs here, and we really become one in this Christmas season," Davis said.

Community Christmas begins at 5:30 tonight and Friday, rain or shine.

The event is free and parking will be at the Oak Hollow Mall.

Each child in attendance gets a winter hat.
