CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Several driver license offices and license plate agencies across the central and western portions of North Carolina have been impacted by an internet service issue.
- Internet service outage has impacted DMV and NCDOT offices across the state
- AT&T is working to restore service, but does not know when that process will be complete
- Many services are accessible online at the DMV's official website
The service interruptions have affected DMV offices in portions of the Triad, the Charlotte metro area, and parts of the eastern mountains and foothills, officials say.
The N.C. Department of Transportation said in a release Thursday afternoon, "Officials with AT&T Business Services traced the problem to several host circuits terminating in the Charlotte area. AT&T is currently working on the problem but has not indicated when service will be restored."
Many DMV services, including license and REAL ID renewals, registration renewals, vehicle tax payments, and address changes can be accessed online through the official DMV website.
Officials say several NCDOT offices were impacted as well.
