DURHAM, N.C. -- Two people are behind bars Thursday after police say they barricaded themselves inside the Extended Stay at 3105 Tower Blvd in Durham Wednesday night.

  • Two people barricaded themselves in a hotel room in Durham Wednesday night.
  • This was presumably in response to a parole officers trying to serve warrants on them.
  • They surrendered around 10 p.m.

According to police, officers were called to the Extended Stay shortly before 5 p.m. to assist parole officers who were trying to serve warrants to two occupants.

The occupants were staying in a room at the hotel and refused to come out. They then barricaded themselves in the room.

One occupant was male and the other female.

The rest of the hotel was evacuated as officers attempted to negotiate with the people in the room.

They eventually surrendered peacefully around 10 p.m. 

Their identities have not been released at this time.
