CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- As the holidays get closer, one of the best parts is getting cards from friends and family.
One Charlotte woman wants to give her grandfather a holiday he will never forget, and she needs your help.
Bill Lee is a World War II veteran. Part of his holiday tradition includes looking at cards with his granddaughter, Emily Knight.
"Every card he receives, he reads every one of them about four or five times, puts them back in the envelope, he documents the date he got them," she says. "He can tell you something about every person that sends him a card, and I know it really brightens his day to get those special things in the mail, and he likes showing them off too."
Emily wants to make this holiday special by collecting cards from around the city and beyond to share with her grandfather.
She says the help from others would make his day, and even his year.
"With being almost 93 years old, Paw-Paw doesn't really know about e-mail, or have access to social media to get the holiday wishes that we might post randomly out to our friends," says Knight. "So every little card he gets is like a comment or an acknowledgment."
