After several weekend storms, water and debris covered the major Outer Banks roadway.
The area was closed for several days while crews worked to remove the excess water from the road.
Not only did the storm close two roadways, but seven ferry route operations were also suspended.
As of Wednesday afternoon, part of N.C. 12 has reopened but the North Carolina Department of Transportation warns drivers to proceed with caution as some water still remains on the road.
Ocracoke roadways remain closed after Hurricane Dorian. There is talk of reopening the roads on Friday, but crews need to reassess after the recent storms.
