The flooding happened on West Morehead Street at the "Arlo" Apartments.
Plumbing crews were trying to fix the problem Monday morning.
According to e-mails sent out by the apartment complex, a pipe burst in the building and people living on the first and second floor had to evacuate last night.
The emails also show that the water was turned off in the building last night and is still not on.
The leasing office is offering people bottles of water to residents. However, people right now are mainly focused on getting inside to get their things.
The apartment complex also says there is an electrician on the property working to get the power back on.
Water will reportedly be turned back on tonight. Residents on the first two floors can come home.
