NORTH CAROLINA -- It’s a full house at the Charlotte Mecklenburg Animal Care and Control shelter.

  • Right now all adoption fees are waived. Those costs are usually $100 or higher
  • They are offering this special early because if these animals aren’t adopted euthanization may be the next option
  • The shelter has both big and small dogs available, as well as, kittens and larger cats

"It’s full enough that we actually started our holiday special this past week, which we would normally start in December," CMPD Animal Care & Control spokesperson, Melissa Knicely said.

Knicely said right now all adoption fees are waived. Those costs are usually $100 or higher.

"We just ask that you make a financial donation of your choice to support our shelter programs," Knicely said.

Knicely said they are offering this special early because if these animals aren’t adopted euthanization may be the next option.

"If you are really extremely full, you really have to make tough decisions if animals are sick," Knicely said.

The shelter has both big and small dogs available, as well as, kittens and larger cats.

"They are spayed and neutered, which is a couple hundred dollar value," Knicely said. "They are also up-to-date on other vaccinations, which is another couple hundred dollars in value."

The real value is for these animals who are looking for a permanent home this holiday season. For more information about the giving these pets a fur-ever home, check the shelter's website.
