MATTHEWS, N.C. — The Town of Matthews will offer several holiday celebration events beginning November 30. 

Below is a list of the family-friendly events being offered in 2019:

The Nutcracker

November 30-December 1, and December 7-8.

Saturday performances at 7 p.m., Sunday performances at 3 p.m. at the Fullwood Theater in the Matthews Community Center, 100 McDowell Street.

Presented by Matthews Ballet. Tickets on sale at the Matthews Community Center.

Sugar Plum Party

Immediately following the 3 p.m. performances of The Nutcracker on Sunday December 1 and Sunday, December 8. Join us in the Land of Sweets for special treats and photos with the leading cast of The Nutcracker. Tickets available at matthewsfun.com.

Crews Family Fun Night

Friday, December 6 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Game Truck Night!  Crews Recreation Center, 1201 Crews Road. Admission is free. More information at matthewsfun.com.  

Gingerbread House Contest

Enter your creation December 2-6 at the Matthews Chamber of Commerce. Judging takes place on December 7.

It’s A Wonderful Life

Hometown Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration

Saturday, December 7

The event is from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Town Hall Green, 232 Matthews Station Street. Includes wagon rides, caricature artists, magicians, Santa photos, and more! Many performances on stage all afternoon and the lighting of the tree comes complete with pyrotechnics. Admission is free.

Downtown Matthews Holiday Stroll

Saturday, December 7

From 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., stroll through the streets for special holiday treats, prizes and shopping opportunities. Admission is free.

Menorah Lighting

Thursday, December 26 at 5:30 p.m. at the Matthews Community Center. Following the menorah lighting, there will be snacks, kid crafts, and games. Please note this event will be held outdoors.
