STANLY COUNTY, N.C. -- Authorities say several students and a bus driver have been injured in a school bus crash Thursday morning.
They say the bus was rear-ended by a truck on highway 24-27 at Converse Road west of Albemarle. The bus had a total of 25 students on board and was headed to West Stanly middle and high schools at the time when it got rear-ended.
Officials say a tractor-trailer hit a pick-up truck, pushing it into the back to the school bus. The driver caught in the middle in the pick-up truck is OK. Troopers say the driver of the tractor-trailer was also taken to the hospital and is expected to face charges for reckless driving.
There's no word on the condition of any of the people who were hurt. The North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
