BOONE N.C. – Winter is coming which means more adults and children will need temporary shelter from the cold.
- The Hospitality House in Boone opened on Friday, November 1.
- The shelter will remain open for the next six months.
- They are asking for help in the form of donations such as blankets, towels, warm clothing for children and winter clothes in larger sizes.
The Hospitality House located in Boone has officially opened its emergency winter shelter today.
The shelter has been at maximum capacity the whole year but when temperatures drop, cots are set up in the cafeteria, the hallway and even offices to make space for everyone.
Seven people showed up before they were even accepting others.
The shelter is expecting 40 people per night. Some of those people will be children.
The emergency shelter will remain open for the next six months.
The Hospitality House is asking for donations in the form of towels, blankets, warm clothing for children and larger clothing for adults.
