CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte Hornets owner Michael Jordan is giving back to the west Charlotte community.

The Michael Jordan Family Medical Clinic opened Thursday on Freedom Drive. The clinic is a partnership with Novant Health with the goal of helping families that are un-insured or under-insured.

Jordan gifted $7 million to help build and open the clinic. The NBA all-star got emotional at the opening as he spoke to the community that's always supported him.

"The needs are going to outsource what we have started here, and we have to continue this process. This is just the start of a battle of being able to touch as many as we can," he said.
