CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Officials confirm a 3 year old has died after family members say he fell down the stairs at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

Mecklenburg County’s medical examiner says Jaiden Cowart died September 28 from blunt force injuries due to a fall. 

In a statement, the airport says, “Our thoughts are with the family during this very difficult time.  We are extremely grateful for the quick response of our emergency crews and law enforcement officers and for the medical assistance and care they provided.”

A GoFundMe has been set up to help with funeral expenses.
