The bad news comes in the middle of a week celebrating North Carolina manufacturers.
Daimler Trucks North America announced it will lay off 900 employees between two North Carolina freightliner plants in Mount Holly and Cleveland.
Daimler blames the layoffs on the truck market demand dropping, after a record high. The North American truck market is now returning to normal market levels, which means the demand for Dailmer's products is lower. In order to adjust to the lower demands, the truck manufcaturer had to cut jobs.
The layoffs will take place on October 4.
