BURKE COUNTY, N.C. -- The father of a two-month-old baby who was charged with his murder was in court today in Burke County.
- Twenty-three-year-old Maurice Springs was charged with 2nd Degree Murder
- According to a search warrants by the Burke County Sheriff Office, the baby was taken to the hospital back on September 5 when the mother found the child unresponsive on a rocker and the father on the bed
- Last week, the father was arrested. He was given a court appointed attorney and his next court date will be on October 7

The hospital staff called police because the child had symptoms of shaken baby syndrome.
A search warrant was done at the house later that day, looking for signs of child abuse and finger prints.
Last week, the father was arrested. He was given a court appointed attorney and his next court date will be on October 7.
