CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- High school just started in many area districts, but it's never too early to start thinking about college.
There is a college fair coming up next week for students interested in historically-black colleges and universities.
United States Congresswoman Alma Adams from North Carolina's 12th district (a two-time alumna of North Carolina A&T State University) and Jaylon Herbin (who graduated from Winston-Salem State University), stopped by the Spectrum News studios in Charlotte to discuss the upcoming initiative. Adams helped launch the partnership challenge about 2 years ago.
If you would like to attend HBCU Day, it'll be held Saturday, September 7 at West Charlotte High School.
Doors open to the public at 11:30 The event starts at noon with a pep rally. Then, from 1 p.m. through 3 p.m., you'll have the opportunity to meet with more than 16 HBCUs fom across the country.
