SALISBURY -- There's a party with a purpose in Rowan County for some young softball players with world-class skill.
- Rowan County softball brought home the championship this month for the second time
- River Ridge, Louisiana's team 4-1 in the championship game
- Fans held signs and raised banners to cheer on their home team
Dozens of people came out to cheer on a parade for the winners of the 2019 Little League World Series.
"It's amazing, I feel very famous," catcher Emma Cline says.
For the second time, Rowan County softball brought home the championship this month.
Rowan County defeated River Ridge, Louisiana's team 4-1 in the championship game. The team was welcomed back by some cheerful residents earlier this week.
Fans held signs and raised banners to cheer on their home team.
"These girls overachieved all summer, from day one," head coach Steve Yang says. "These girls worked hard and kept getting better and better. So,the credit goes out to the girls for being world champions."
Pitcher Campbell Schaen guided Rowan County to the victory, allowing just one run in six strong innings with nine strikeouts.
