CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- You may now get free produce in the Queen City. The CATS Farmers Market expanded to the transit center in Uptown.

Organizers say it allows people living in areas far away from grocery stores to take the bus for fresh food. Market Manager India Solomon encourages you to give food when you can and take food when you need it.

"We have multiple sources. We get donations from Trader Joe’s. We call them unsellable, but edible. So, we sort through the foods and make sure we’re providing our clients. We also get produce from local farms and gardens."

The market runs on Thursdays during the rest of the summer.
