CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Police say a bus driver has been shot and a suspect has been taken into custody. 

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police tell news sources that officers responded to a call at around 12:45 p.m. on Monday. Authorities said the driver was shot near the city's transportation center and was taken to the hospital for treatment. 

What appeared to be a bullet hole was visible in the driver's side window of a bus parked at the transit center.

Charlotte Area Transit System spokeswoman Juliann Sheldon says a suspect, 57-year-old TB Moss, has been apprehended, but she provided no additional details. The victim has not been identified.

Moss has been charged with 

  • Attempted first degree murder
  • Shooting into occupied property (four counts)
  • Possession of a firearm by felon
  • Possession of a stolen firearm
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Felony domestic violence protective order violation
  • Discharge a firearm within the city limits (four counts)
  • Resist/Delay/Obstruct a law enforcement officer

Officials say he has a lengthy, violent criminal histor including a prior conviction for assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and several weapons-related charges.
