HUNTERSVILLE – On a holiday weekend where people may be expecting guests at their front door, the Huntersville Police Department is warning people to look before you unlock.

It’s happening in the Cedarfield neighborhood, after police say the soliciting permit for company Vivint Inc. was revoked after complaints about their door-to-door approach.

Police say neighbors experienced late-night visits, with door representatives becoming argumentative and using expletives. Police say businesses shouldn’t be solicting after 8 p.m.

“People were a little scared for their security because there were people,” says Odette Saglimbeni, a spokesperson for the Huntersville Police Department.  “They were asking to come inside their homes. And a lot of the people were just getting argumentative, and in some cases cursing at the homeowner.”

Police say anyone should call 911 if they see Vivint representatives still soliciting.

Spectrum News reached out to Vivint for a comment and did not immediately receive a reply.
