RALEIGH, N.C. – After 27 days in the hospital, UNC-Charlotte shooting victim Drew Pescaro is back home and friends and family are celebrating his return to the Triangle with a fundraiser.

Friday night, crafty beer, wine, and spirits in Five Points welcomed the community to offer donations to help in Drew's recovery. Though Drew couldn't make it, his family was there to see the support. They say Drew is in really good spirits.

"To come out here and kind of celebrate now that he's home and you know his recovery process cause that's kind of like where our focus is now. We're trying to take out the bad of the situation and look on the up swing of things," Pescaro’s brother, Ryan Pescaro, said.

Others are seeing the impact home has had on Drew, including his girlfriend of six years, Erin Wilson.

"Seeing him go through this has been so difficult, but the way he's handled it has not been surprising to me at all. He is such a grounded, good person,” Wilson said.

Donations were being accepted at the event and some of the profits will be going to the family.
