NEWTON, N.C. – For two days now, a home in Catawba County has been decorated with trash and expletive messages targeted at police.

  • The homeowner has 15 days to clean up the area and was told to take down the sign immediately.
  • She says she has no plans to do what was asked.
  • She says she is upset with the Newton Police Department who, according to her, have continuously visited her home for unfounded reasons.

The house sits next to Newton Conover High School and buses pass by it daily. Police have told the homeowner she is in violation of city ordinances.

She has 15 days to clean up the trash, and was told to take the sign down immediately; however, she told us off camera, she wasn't going to.

According to the city ordinance, if the owner does not clean up the nuisance, a hearing will be held with the chief of police. The homeowner can also be deemed a chronic violator in which the city can take action to remove the nuisance and the expense of the action will become a lien on the property and be collected as unpaid taxes.

She says this act is not against her neighbors, nor the city. She's upset with the Newton Police Department who, according to her, have continuously visited her home for unfounded reasons.

Neighbors say a man moved in a couple months ago and say there have been issues at the home.
