CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A cold front sweeping through North Carolina Friday will allow scattered storms to return to our forecast. The best time frame for storms across the Piedmont should occur between noon and 3pm.

With a Marginal (level 1) risk in place for severe storms east of I-77, an isolated damaging wind gust or two will be possible. These storms should be fast movers, so flash flooding won't be much of an issue!

Winds, however, will be an issue expecially for the mountains behind this front, with High Wind Warnings in effect through midnight for Ashe and Watauga counties. Expect rapidly clearing skies by early this evening and into the overnight hours.

Saturday will bring the return of sunshine and the return of normal April temperatures. Highs will dip back into the low to mid 70s.

Sunday should be quiet as well, with just a small chance for an isolated shower.
