CONCORD, N.C. -- Concord Fire Chief Ray Allen is retiring after 28 years with the department so his sons can come work at the department they grew up with.

- Williams recently finished treatment for skin cancer and has a good prognosis
- Williams said he will be keeping track of his health and the rest of the department as well

Williams joined the department in 1999. He recently finished treatment for skin cancer and has a good prognosis.
Williams said he will be keeping track of his health and the rest of the department as well, making sure they get regular screenings and keep up a thorough gear cleaning regimen.
Williams said “The men and women of this fire department are our most valuable asset and we’ll continue to operate and make sure we take care of those individuals any way that we can.”
Deputy Chief Williams will be sworn in as Chief May 1, 2019.
