CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A CMS teacher is being honored as one of the Country Music Association's Top 30 Music Educators in the nation.

  • Kevin Brawley was named one of CMA's Top 30 Music Educators
  • Brawley says he hopes kids take inspiration from his lessons
  • The ceremony and special dinner for Brawley will take place on April 30

Kevin Brawley at Torrence Creek Elementary has been teaching in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg school district for six years now.

He says he hopes the kids are taking inspiration from his lessons.

“It shows that the things I’m saying to them are true when I tell them there’s a possibility of a career in music, when I say that if you listen to your elementary school music teacher, great things can happen. If you continue following down that path, I think I’m just a great real life living example to them that these great things can happen," said Brawley.

All 30 educators on the list are invited by the Country Music Association to Nashville for a special dinner on April 30 with country star Dierks Bentley.
