COLORADO -- There are disturbing new details in the killing of a North Carolina native and her daughters in Colorado.

  • Chris Watts was sentenced for the murders of his pregnant wife and two daughters
  • Attorney Steven Lambert says 4-year-old Bella pleaded for her life
  • He says she saw her mother's body wrapped in a sheet
An attorney for the family of Shanann Watts shared new information during an interview on the Dr. Phil show. Steven Lambert says Shanann's 4-year-old daughter Bella pleaded for her life after she saw her father, Chris Watts, wrapping her mother's body in a sheet.

Lambert says the Fayetteville native killed Shanann after confessing to her that he was having an affair.

"From our understanding, Bella did not witness the actual killing of her mother, Shanann. It wasn't until the process of trying to dispose of Shanann's body, wrapping her in the sheet, while he was doing that, Bella walked in and asked, 'What are you doing with mommy?' Lambert said.

Lambert says Chris Watts put his wife's body and his two children in a truck before smothering Bella's sister, Celeste, with her favorite blanket. He says Bella then unbuckled herself and begged to be spared, but Watts killed her as well.

Written and audio reports of an interview Colorado investigators conducted with Watts last month are expected to be released Thursday.
