NORTH CAROLINA -- After a nice start to the weekend, rain chances return for Sunday.

The day will start out OK with that rain moving in from west to east through the day. It will be all rain for the mountains with rain and some thunder for the Piedmont and the Sandhills regions.

From Wilmington to the Outer Banks there is a better chance for storms that may become severe by late in the evening. We'll keep you posted on that.

Drier and colder air moves in for next week.
