CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Law enforcement testimony kicked off day two of the Rayquan Borum trial.
He is the man the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department says killed Justin Carr during the riots following the Keith Scott shooting. Testimony for the prosecution accused Borum of trying to kill a police officer, which led to Carr’s death.

"From the videos that we saw and looked at yesterday and during the course of the investigation, the interview with me and Borum at that point in time when that message was sent, yes I believe he was trying to shoot the police," CMPD detective Richard Jones said.
On Monday, the prosecution opened by saying Borum came to the riots with the intent to kill an officer, but killed Carr instead. The defense countered by saying officers were in fact rushing to an arrest, and not the truth when they arrested Borum.
