Lily Pad Haven, Inc., an organization dedicated to helping human trafficking survivors, says North Carolina ranks no. 8 in the top U.S. states for human trafficking.
They attribute the spike to Charlotte's "rapidly growing population, heavily-traveled interstates, a busy international airport, a close proximity to the coast and is the site for major sporting events."
Charlotte residents and guests are asked to alert authorities if they see any suspicious activity, or call the National Human Trafficking Hotline at 1 (888) 373-7888.
