BLADEN COUNTY, N.C. -- Democrats rallied in Bladen County Saturday and renewed calls for a new election in the ninth congressional district.
No one has been seated in that race after allegations of fraud involving absentee ballots surfaced. In November, Mark Harris the republican candidate, held a little more than a 900-vote lead over Democrat Dan Mccready who also attended the rally.
"This is really not about Republicans or Democrats. Not about me or Mark Harris. This is not even about one election. This is about what does it mean to be an American. Our right to vote is our most sacred freedom," he said.
A spokesperson for the state Republican party says they feel Mark Harris won the November election, and that he will be certified. The new state elections board is expected to hold a hearing on this matter this month.
