SAMPSON COUNTY, N.C. – A Whiteville man is behind bars after being charged with a convenience store murder from 2017.

Police believe Cory Hines, 22, killed Elliot Dew while he was sitting in a car in the parking lot of Happy Mart on JK Powell Boulevard on December 11, 2017.

Hines has been charged with Murder and Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Vehicle.

He is in custody in Sampson County with no bond.
