NORTH CAROLINA -- Rain in the Foothills is causing creeks and rivers to overflow.
The rain took a quick break Friday afternoon, but it is coming back. Many of the creeks are either spilling over or lapping the banks.
The Catawba River Greenway in Morganton has been closed from flooding. Even though the river is prone to flooding with heavy rains, it’s still a pain for people who have to find another way around. Many who wanted to come enjoy the greenway on this mild day had to turn around.
Judge's Riverside Restaurant faces the greenway, but so far it’s been safe from water reaching up the hill. The manager says it’s a common thing, but a little uncommon in December.
"It probably is a little bit because we've had so much rain over this past year, but nothing is out of the ordinary anymore. We've had 15 inches of snow so, that’s kind of surprising in December too so we just roll with whatever we get," general manager Brian Milller said.
Much of the Foothills is under a flood watch and will remain under the watch over the weekend.
