WAKE COUNTY, N.C. – A week later a pet monkey in Morrisville is still missing. The pet was first reported missing late last week.

  • Willow went missing on Thursday in Morrisville.
  • One group claims the monkey was found dead in Virginia, but the owner has not confirmed that to be her monkey and is continuing to search
  • A $1,500 reward is being offered in the case

A South Carolina couple lost the monkey at the La Quinta Inn on Hospitality Court on Thursday. They were leaving the hotel and a plane flying over startled their monkey, named Willow, and she ran away.

Willow is about the size of a squirrel and weighs less than a pound, making the frigid conditions of the past few days very dangerous for her.

An official from Randolph County NC Lost and Found Pets stated on Tuesday that animal control in Virginia found a dead monkey, believed to be Willow. That monkey is thought to have climbed into the engine compartment of a car for warmth.

However, Lost & Found Pets of the Triangle, NC shared on their Facebook page that that information is not to be believed and that the owner is still searching for her pet.

The owner is offering $1,500 to anyone who finds the monkey.

Anyone with information on the missing monkey is asked to call 1-864-979-8446.
