CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A lawsuit claiming Calvary Church Child Development Center violated the Disabilities Act was dropped Wednesday.
- Back in 2016 the church was accused of expelling children with medical conditions
- Daycare plans to hire full-time nurse
- Neither side disclosed the amount of any monetary damages
Both sides reached a settlement after more than two years of legal fighting. The childcare facility will add a statement to its admissions policy saying it will accept children with disabilities if they can accommodate the child.
The daycare will also hire a full-time nurse.
“Part of Calvary's commitment to accept children with disabilities is important to have resources there so that children can be reasonably accommodated," attorney Joshua Reed Van Kampen said.
Attorneys for both sides put out this statement saying "the families and church are eager for these newly refined practices to be shared with others, thus, opening the doors for families in similar circumstances around the nation.”
Neither side disclosed the amount of any monetary damages as part of the settlement.
