CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A cold front will slowly move into western North Carolina Wednesday and is expected to stall across the area through the end of the work week. This will kick off a stretch of days that will feature daily chances for showers and storms set to last at least through Friday.

- Sunshine and highs in the upper 70s to low 80s will be in store for Saturday afternoon into the first half of next week.
While all across the Piedmont and North Carolina mountains will begin the day dry Wednesday, this will soon change by the afternoon. Expect an increasing chance for showers and storms from west to east as a cold front slowly begins pushing across the Blue Ridge by mid-afternoon. We'll likely see some kind of cluster/band of storms fire up ahead of it, which could produce an isolated severe storm. Flash flooding may be an issue, as some cells could bring a quick shot of heavy rain to the soils that became saturated two weekends ago by Florence.
Thursday through Friday will feature additional rounds of scattered showers and storms as the front remains draped across the region. By Saturday, drier and slightly cooler high pressure will build in from the north, giving us a nice weekend and beautiful start to October! Expect lots of sunshine and highs in the upper 70s to low 80s by Saturday afternoon into the first half of next week.
