Monday morning the National Hurricane Center upgraded Potential Tropical Cyclone Seven to Tropical Storm Gordon. Gordon strengthen to tropical storm criteria once it began producing maximum sustained winds of 45 mph. Gordon formed over the Florida Keys and as it slowly moves north west the area remains under a Tropical Storm Warning.

Over the coming days, Gordon will track northwest over the Gulf. The warm temperatures of the Gulf will help Gordon become more organized and stronger. Based off the latest data, Gordon will likely make a second landfall somewhere between New Orleans, Louisiana and Mobile, Alabama as a strong tropical storm.

Tropical Storm Gordon does not present an imminent threat to North Carolina at this time. But we continue to watch Tropical Storm Florence that continues to edge closer to the United States as it tracks northwest over the Atlantic.
